This painting has an obvious message, that racism and homophobia need to be taught to children, they're not innate. Such things are taught by people who need to denigrate others to feel better about themselves. It's something we're all guilty of, some more than others.
This painting started with my fascination of the still life paintings by Franz Sedlacek, an Austrian artist lost in World War II. The rest of the scene evolved from there.
I guarantee that you will never see a Hummel or a Precious Moments figurine that looks anything like mine.
